Ann and I are really passionate about mental health - and I don't know if that's a thing we've really expressed before. Both of us have incredibly strong beliefs in getting help for problems, whether it's depression, anxiety, or anything else really! The strange collective bit of information we all seem to have as part of our metaculture, is the idea that people will become "different" if they take their medication. That somehow, medication will affect productivity or creativity. While this notion can't be entirely dismissed as false, it's not what happens to everyone.
Both Ann and I are on depression medication. While I can't speak for Ann, I can say personally that it's been a long time since I've felt this happy! I feel like a person again! I can have emotions and thoughts and I'm no longer in a pit of my own emptiness. But this only came about because I finally went and got help, that I got medication, and that I've been taking my medication regularly.
I bring all this up because Ann is going to have a story in the Corpus Anthology! With its focus on mental health and bodily ailments, both Ann and I feel that this anthology could help someone who might be scared about getting help for their problems. These are all stories of people who have problems and their experiences with getting help for them. We're all connected by illness in one way or another.
If you'd like to read Ann's personal story in Corpus, please consider backing the anthology. It would mean so much to the both of us - and you'd be receiving some quality comics as a result.
And thank you so much.
See you next Monday!
